This original handmade Oil Painting Woman Laying In Shallow Water is part of my underwater series of paintings.

I had the inspiration for this painting during my trip to Fuerteventura where the endless white-sand beaches gave me a real sense of freedom and easiness. The artwork was painted following a photoshoot during hot sunny day on one of Fuerteventura’s most beautiful beaches Sotavento. The water is pale turquoise, almost transparent and very shallow. The sky is blue, the light is at its most beautiful moment and the sunlight is flooding the water, casting abstract lines on the white sandy ground. This underwater texture is unique – it will never look the same !

To paint the bikini was a real challenge is it has an extremely detailed pattern, also with the light and shadow on it. However it would make the painting even more interesting , that’s why I decided to keep it.
